Infinium Finishes 3rd in the World Solar Challenge!

Infinium has successfully completed the World Solar Challenge finishing in third place! This finish ties the 1990, 2001 and 2005 teams for the best placing by Michigan. The team crossed the finish line in Adelaide this evening, cruising in at almost 110kph.

Great job, Blue! Your Ann Arbor cheering crew was watching as you crossed the finish line, and we popped some champagne in your honor. If anyone is still paying attention, it looks like Day 6 has started. Principia is moving. They should reach End of Timing in a hour or so. They're shooting for 7th place. Aurora 101 should arrive in Adelaide at any time to officially claim 6th place. Solar Team Twente should come in after Principia.
Aurora 101 officially took
Aurora 101 officially took 6th place in the Challenge class at 9:10 AM Adelaide time. Principia reached the End of Timing at or a little before 10:14 AM, which should be good for 7th place.

Officially 10:13 AM for Principia. That college is smaller than my high school and they built a solar car that just came in 7th in the world. Wow.

We looked back at the entry
We looked back at the entry list that was posted for the WSC in July: 45 teams from 18 countries on five continents. Last week, 32 teams qualified a vehicle which is a fantastic accomplishment. Now, Infinium with a podium finish -- BONZER, BLUE!!!!

Congratulations, Wolverines! Hail, hail to Michigan! Most exciting race since NASC 2005 (when Momentum beat Minnesota by 11 minutes).
Australia's Sunswift IV
Australia's Sunswift IV reached the finish line at 15:08, taking 4th place in the Challenge class. MIT took 5th, crossing the finish line at 16:31. Aurora 101 passed Principia and made it to Port Augusta at 14:57. Principia, the liberal arts college with 500 students and no School of Engineering, reached Port Augusta at 15:42, in 7th. Three American teams in the top 7. Solar Team Twente's car , held together by chewing gum, made it to Port Augusta in 8th. HS Bochum's Solarworld No. 1, from Germany, made it to Glendambo in 9th. And in 10th place is Saguar, a solar car from Sakarya University in Turkey, an hour and a half ahead of the other Turkish team from Istanbul Technical University. Impressive showing for the Turkish teams.More standings at: http://www.globalgreenchallenge.com.au/ggc/?p=rankings The winner of the Adventure class, from Japan's OSU, finished an hour and a half after Michigan, in 4th overall.
